Scau dle castagne

For centuries the chestnut has been the star of the rural dinner tables in the foothills of our region, a perfect substitute for the cereal crops that were more expensive and difficult to grow. Like many local farms, that of our grandparents had an area dedicated to drying chestnuts, the so-called “scau”.

This drying was a fundamental ritual for obtaining chestnut flour and the area also was used to preserve dried fruits for the winter. This romantic room stands in the place of the scau, with views across the surrounding area from the top of the agriturismo.

The light enters from all sides thanks to the large windows that offer a unique view of our Bisalta (the nearest alpine mountain, which our agriturismo sits right below), the woods, and the roofs of our village. On clear days you can even see the gentle slopes of the Langa hills.

The 14 square meter (150 square feet) room includes a round bed which rests on a reclaimed barrel, the kind that our grandparents used to make wine called a “tina”. The room has a magical and romantic atmosphere. The large 12 square meter (130 square feet) terrace is the highest point in the whole agriturismo.

From it you can admire the stone roofs, the swimming pool, and the surrounding area. Breath the mountain air and relax while surrounded by nature. The room has a cellar with some wines on display, a kettle with a tea kit, and a private bathroom with a shower.

This room can host up to two people. Breakfast is included.
